This project revisits an old piece of written choreography from 2018 through a series of poems that communicate with an ancestor by responding to the choreography’s movement cues. I then processed spoken recordings of the poems through granular synthesis and combined them with old field recordings and voice memos also from 2018. I created a layered soundscape that brings my past self into conversation with my ancestor and my present practice. This dance film is a present-day interpretation of the sound piece.
